Celebrating a Milestone | Letter from Publisher
Aug 30, 2018 03:17PM
I wrote, “I lost the love of my life nearly a year ago. My mom was my home base, guiding light and North Star—every cliché in the book. I couldn’t imagine a world where she wasn’t just a phone call away. Witnessing the moment she transitioned on and confronting this new world changed everything for me… And so, after 23 years working in international education including 14 years with Gonzaga University, I left it all behind and transitioned into publishing Natural Awakenings Inland Northwest. Frightening, right?”
Yep; but I’m not frightened anymore. It’s been two years now without my mom, yet she continues to inform this new and exciting world I find myself in alongside my two daughters, Zeni, 7 and Solea, 5. It’s a world filled with unexpected challenges, deadlines, events, business dealings and tax crap, which has forced me to exercise new muscles. It has also allowed me to meet amazing who do truly extraordinary work in our community and who share pieces of themselves and their heart-filled endeavors through the pages of Natural Awakenings Inland Northwest every month.
Which leads me to the point of this month’s letter: our very-much appreciated advertisers, who along with you readers, really are my partners in this new amazing life. Turns out publishing a free magazine isn’t cheap, so I would like to thank every advertiser who has been in the pages of Natural Awakenings over the past year, as well as those new partners coming in this month! To all of you, I shout thank you from the rooftops. You rock!
And to you readers of the magazine: Thank you! I have received the most heartfelt and wonderful feedback from those who have truly benefited from the news briefs, articles, ads, spotlights, calendar events, resource guide listings and classifieds right here in these pages. Keep on reading and keep on sharing. Hey, and the next time you call or visit one of our partners, make sure you let them know you found out about them through Natural Awakenings magazine.
