International Accessible Yoga Training coming to Spokane
Accessible Yoga Training teaches participants how to make yoga available to everyone, regardless of level of physical ability, through modifications, empowerment and adaptation. “We are excited to bring this unique and beneficial training to the region’s yoga community and welcome the opportunity to work with the Accessible Yoga Training organization,” says Sara Douville, co-owner of YogaJoy North. “Our mission at YogaJoy is to welcome everyone, meet them where they are by de-mystifying yoga, and to bring the best talent and opportunities to our community.” The Spokane training will be led by Brenda Bakke, PT, M.Ed, C-IAYT, a physical and yoga therapist since 1999 and Mary Fuhr, OTR, RYT, an occupational therapist for over 35 years. They have frequently worked together to bring yoga and mindfulness to parents, educators and health care professionals for over 10 years. This training is available to everyone, with no pre-requisites required. Participants will receive 30 Yoga Alliance continuing education units (CEUs) and a Certificate of Completion. RYT-200 teachers and above will become certified Accessible Yoga teachers. The training includes nine pre-course online hours.
