Sanctuary for Exploited Animals Seeks End-of-Year Donations

Terra Farm Sanctuary, located in northwest Spokane County, is a small, vegan, non-profit sanctuary that provides a safe home for abandoned, abused and exploited animals to peacefully live out their lives. Many of the farm’s residents are seniors in need of extra supplementation, medication and dental care, which can be expensive. The sanctuary is seeking end-of-year, tax deductible donations from the community to help offset these increasing costs.

“Because our mission is to care for our exploited animal residents into their golden years, we help them through many of the conditions you would expect from aging—including arthritis, dental issues, cancer, bronchitis and more,” shares Rhonda-T Warren, sanctuary founder and director. “We currently have senior-aged dogs, donkeys, roosters, goats and sheep that require extra medical assistance to stay comfortable and healthy for as long as possible and this gets expensive, which is why we are welcoming contributions from our community.”

The sanctuary relies solely on the generosity of donors and volunteers to stay afloat. Due to the increasing cost of food, medication and supplementation from this past year, sanctuary costs have increased by approximately 25 percent according to Warren. “On average, it costs $100 per day to run the sanctuary whereas prior to 2020, it was around $75 per day,” she says. “As a non-profit, financial contributions in any amount help mitigate these increasing costs in feed and medical expenses and are greatly appreciated.”
